Projects that you can get invoved with.

Our community is involved in various projects aimed at preserving and sharing family histories. These efforts include digitizing old records and organizing community events, all designed to make genealogical research widely available. Check out our Projects to see how you can get involved!

Project 1. Historic Preservationist

The Bartow community has excelled in collecting local heritage via family, business, and church archives, some of which date back to the 19th century. A dedicated volunteer has already protected numerous boxes with archival materials and finding aids at the 1892 L.B. Brown House. Yet, many boxes remain unsorted and unorganized. Consider volunteering to help catalog these records and discover methods to preserve your own historical documents. As IPGS member and organizer John Laurent says, "The best way to learn is just to do it with somebody nearby to answer questions."

Project 2. BSA Education

To foster a passion for genealogy in the younger generation, members of the IPGS have collaborated with the Boy Scouts of America to assist scouts in earning their Genealogy Merit Badge. We hope that the scouts and their families become lifelong genealogists.
